Bzzt.  Cast of thousands.  Well, about two dozen, anyway.  Archdaemons:

Ben Wing:         architect
Martin Buchholz:  development branch release engineer
Vin Shelton:      stable branch release engineer and patch gateway to
                  the stable code
Steve Youngs:     package hierarchy and SUMO release engineer

The rest of the members of the Review Board have their specialties
where their vetoes will almost certainly be obeyed until there is
practical evidence (ie, a temporary branch with several testers; may
or may not be located on CVS branch, often implemented as #ifdefs)
that their worries are groundless (or at least the damage is
containable).
