Mojibake. :) Sometimes, this will happen if you just type something in the term window, but will work if, for example, you create a document with vi. > > I'm on a SuSE 9.0 system with aterm 0.4.2. > > --enable-xim=yes and --enable-kanji=yes all with the same > result. This is an rpm based system and I don't know how to > configure from the install. I have a page that explains that a bit for the newcomer. http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/tarball.html. For a quicker treatment, there's also http://qnd-guides.org/qnd-tarball.html. As for aterm itself, it does seem as if the patch at wakaba.com has disappeared. Take a look at the two pages mentioned above. Then, you can go back to my Japanese in *nix page at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/jpninpt.html and follow the instructions for building aterm from source--get the tarball from sourceforge (the link is on the Japanese input page). Note that you will have to do bunzip2 the patch from my page first. Before doing this, remove the SuSE rpm so that you don't run into conflicts. rpm -e aterm-<version> Hope this helps. -- Scott PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 D575 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Xander: So, we Bronzin' it tonight?
