Steve is one of the least likely people on the face of the Earth to ever utter the statement "[the love of] automation is the root of all evil". You misunderstood. He was criticising OOo, not automation, which is, as we all know, much better than doing things by hand. People make mistakes--computers do not. Therefore, once a person has perfected his automaton, it will crank out as many doohickies as you require, without a single error. This is the quite lovely result of determinism, the sort of thing that (along with, according to Neal Stephenson, German mathematicians) got Alan Turing all hot and bothered. --Josh "too crazed by long hours of C hacking to continue as a productive member of society" Glover
