OH ! I didn't see that.. The config uses getmail not fetchmail. Is there 
an advantage to that? I guess that the two would have pretty much the 
same functionality, but maybe the overhead is different?

With fetchmail you can also check the server sertificate for pop3-ssl.  
Is it also doable with getmail?
