[tlug] Switch the VT?

TLUG,

I was looking at this page, which describes a bug in the Linuxwacom 
driver that I've encountered:

In it, a poster says that the problem can be temporarily worked around 
by "switching the VT".

I've searched via Google, but I can't for the life of me figure out what 
"switching the VT" is supposed to mean.

What is the "VT", and how do I switch it?
