Kalin, Attila, thank you for comments - certainly worth checking and I will do it. In the meantime I have turned on nfs debuging info: echo 1 > /proc/sys/sunrpc/nfs_debug (client side) echo 1 > /proc/sys/sunrpc/nfsd_debug (server side) and after client crash I found (client side only) something like 150 000 lines similar to this (long lines intentionaly left untuched): Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613405] NFS: dentry_delete(AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting/AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting.flb, 8) Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613438] NFS: permission(0:13/96), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613440] NFS: permission(0:13/2147484396), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613441] NFS: permission(0:13/208950436), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613442] NFS: permission(0:13/2436315589), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613443] NFS: permission(0:13/2147794000), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613445] NFS: dentry_delete(AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting/AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting.flb, 8) Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613450] NFS: permission(0:13/96), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613451] NFS: permission(0:13/2147484396), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613452] NFS: permission(0:13/208950436), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613453] NFS: permission(0:13/2436315589), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613454] NFS: permission(0:13/2147794000), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613455] NFS: dentry_delete(AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting/AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting.flb_cont1, 8) Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613468] NFS: permission(0:13/96), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613469] NFS: permission(0:13/2147484396), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613470] NFS: permission(0:13/208950436), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613471] NFS: permission(0:13/2436315589), mask=0x1, res=0 Apr 14 21:56:38 vcjb11 kernel: [34215.613472] NFS: permission(0:13/2147794000), mask=0x1, res=0 The whole output of "grep NFS /var/log/messages > NFS.problem" could be seen here: http://material.karlov.mff.cuni.cz/people/hajek/tlug/NFS.problem I guess this have to have something to do with the crash. Unfortunately, it is rather hard to find something on google with such info. Is there anyone who encountered similar issue? Or who can interpret above messages? I checked the permissions of the file: # ls -lh AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting.flb -rw-r--r-- 1 compute users 24M 2010-04-14 21:54 AVL_case_LES_cycle_13-14_NEWsetting.flb which seems to be OK. The user who acces the file is "compute". Best regards Michal
