Maybe this is a filesystem which should explicitly told about the charset? When you execute "mount" you should be able to identify the line re- levant for that mountpoint. When I mount the vfat filesystem of my walkman mp3player which contains filenames with non-ascii-characters, I use this: mount -t vfat -o iocharset=utf8 /dev/sdb1 /mnt/walkman Chris
