(No, I didn't read the regs, but if I tell my If that's a regulation, I think nobody's following it. I've never had any trouble dialing at very close intervals, even when using a Japanese-market modem. Anyway, the things works fine under Windows 95-J on the same system, so I think it's fairly safe to rule out all problems outside of how it's relating to Linux and the other way around. I have verified that the script is typed in exactly as it appeared here, so if it's a bug, I didn't do it :-) Once the connection fails, the only things that work are to 1) Wait several minutes, and 2) Do a power-on reset of the TA. Then it might try to dial again. Then it will fail to connect and repeat the exact same thing. I work for an ISP other than AT&T (this is a legacy account that I've had for a long time and have kept), so maybe I'll have to try dialing into one of our access points and connecting there. If it works, then I'll know it's that auto-detection equipment AT&T uses. Gives my v.34 Sportster fits, too. > The initial lossage is probably due to the fact that many providers do > things differently with ISDN (that is an ISDN TA, right?) Yes, it is. The Aterm IT55 (and the rest of the Aterm series as well, I'm sure) seems to be a Japan-only product. Or more precisely, a Japan-but-not-North-America product. I've never met anyone who has seen on of these there. BTW (trivia point) this is the same DSU/TA combo that NTT will sell you for about 53,000 yen. Cover up the name and put them side by side and you can't tell them apart. Thanks!
