Could not agree more.

In keeping with the above sentiments, since I've seen book 
recommendations thrown about on this list, I'd like to add:
A People's History Of The United States by Howard Zinn.

I wish there was a "A People's History..." book for every country, 
written the way Zinn wrote about US history.
